2012 Nielsen Social Media Report

The Nielsen social media report for 2012 is out and the numbers are in!
As predicted overall time spent online went up across the board regardless of what device is being used. Mobile is growing rapidly with mobile apps up 85% and mobile minutes are up 120% since last year.  A whopping 17% of user’s PC time is spent on Facebook! Is that why employers love to block that site? Because while Facebook is the social networking leader, Pinterest is the rising star with over 1,000+ growth in 2012.

Another not too surprising fact? Nearly a third of people 18-24 access social media in the bathroom. I guess that explains why self taken bathroom mirror pics are so popular.
